Reusable Bin Liners - Are They Any Good? Review

Arianne and I are always (and we mean always) thinking about products that are not only sustainable and eco-friendly, but also look good and are good value. Our approach is always, that if we like something, then you would probably like it too. So we decided to look into reusable bin liners.

Reusable bin liners are not currently that common, but are becoming more and more popular. They are made from polyurethane laminate (PUL), which ultimately is a plastic lined material. Yes we want to reduce plastic use - but it does make sense that buying one (or two...) bin liner with plastic in it, is better than buying rolls and rolls of totally plastic ones throughout the year that end up on a rubbish tip.

We both bought one from Marley's Monster's via Etsy. We tried out the larger size as we have children that generate a good whack of rubbish. We both compost our food waste, so the non-recycling bin usually ends up with non-compostable and non-recyclable materials.

Adding liquid items into the bin liner was a bit of an 'eeky' moment - but so far, so good. The liner hasn't leaked. Once full up and then emptied, I guess you judge yourself whether it needs to be washed or not, depending on what's left inside. I left a bit of residue (no idea what it was) inside and filled the liner up again - admittedly there was a little bit of a stink, but not too much.

They wash well and are easy to dry. Ultimately - you do need two of them. One to wash and one to put back in the empty bin.

All in all, we're pretty pleased with them and will carry on using them. We might try another brand for our second replacement option. We have seen a few different suppliers with varying price points, so we will carry on doing some more research into which bin liner performs best.

Since using them, we haven't bought plastic bin liners. This can only be a good thing.

We wanted to ask your opinion...

  • Do you use them already - and if not, would you use them?

  • How much would you pay for them (remember you're going to have to buy two realistically)?

  • What puts you off using them?

  • If you use them already, have you encountered any problems?

  • Do you have any suggestions to improve them?

We love researching into new products and would love to hear your thoughts. If you could let us know, we'd really appreciate it.

Don't forget our first black Friday sale ends on Monday 29th November. Subscribe to our website to get this blog and offers straight into you inbox.

Hoping you are happy, safe & content,
